Emmett Walsh

As an Irish gay man I want to investigate my sexuality and the role it played in the rural area I lived 

in. I am investigating the hypermasculinity of these areas and the effects it had on my upbringing. i 

am investigateing irish history and folklore and the strong role of masculinity within these stories. I 

am to focus on Gaelic Ireland, investigating the role of men juxtaposed to Lad culture of modern 

times. (I want to use reference to gaelic Ireland as it was said by the Greek philosopher Aristotle 

that the Celts “openly approved of male lovers”.)
